SPRING, TEXAS, September 14, 2023, Katherine Gilbert has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. Backed by years of professional expertise, Ms. Gilbert presently excels as the manager and principal of socioeconomic and human rights at ExxonMobil, through which she works with peer companies to develop industry practices and supports global affiliates in terms of issues around human rights or social performance. Before obtaining her current role with ExxonMobil, Ms. Gilbert worked as an environmental and regulatory adviser, a socioeconomic management lead, an environmental, regulatory, and socioeconomic adviser, and as the reporting and stewardship supervisor of safety, health, and environment.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Gilbert gained valuable expertise in management and strategic analysis with the U.S. Army’s Installation Management Command and the Army Community Services. Likewise, she worked as a clinical research associate for Oregon Health & Science University and as a pesticide toxicologist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Pesticide Information Center. Due to her professional knowledge, Ms. Gilbert co-authored “Acquiring and Maintaining Social License to Operate During the Lifecycle of Major Oil and Gas Operations.”
In conjunction with her work, Ms. Gilbert contributed to her community as an assistant den leader for the Boy Scouts of America and as the ExxonMobil Science Ambassador for Klein Independent School District. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, she also aligns herself with the IPIECA, through which she chairs the human rights working group, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the Society of Women Engineers. Before embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Gilbert earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Oregon State University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
For her professional achievements, Ms. Gilbert received the Advanced Skill Milestone Award from ExxonMobil and a Volunteer Award from the Texas Military Department. While her career has been filled with highlights, she is most proud of raising three children and finding a good work-life balance. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to her upbringing, her parents’ unique approach to child-rearing, and her constant desire to learn. Looking ahead, Ms. Gilbert intends to drive progress at the company and fill a role that allows her to make positive changes in the industry.
